You depend on your senses for true information. You have to see it to believe it. Senses can be overloaded or mask the important stimulus in performance (an important softer noise could be drowned out by the drone of a louder noise). A sudden loud noise can distract, especially in sports requiring concentration, such as golf. High or low temperatures can cause discomfort and hurt performance by wearing you down.
