Approximately one in four people inherit a defective gene on the X Chromosome. Females are unaffected by the defective gene because the recessive gene is not expressed in the presence of another dominant X Chromosome. Males are affected because they do NOT have a dominant X chromosome to counter the defective gene. Males have a Y Chromosome that is not dominant over the recessive X Chromosome. Expressions of the recessive gene include Color Blindness and some forms of Muscular Dystrophy.X-Ray
