Keep in mind that a heavy, muscular or athletic build can have a high BMI and still have low body fat.

WAIST HIP RATIO (WHR)
What is my WHR if I have a 32-inch waist and hip circumference of 38 inches?

In the expression below replace the '32' (inches waist circumference) and the 38 (inches waist circumference) with your numbers:


Equation answer equals .84 WHR.

A WHR > 0.80 means you are apple-shaped.
A WHR ≤ 0.80 means you are pear-shaped.
