VO2
Max
Pronounced "V-OH-2-MAX," -- a mathematical symbol for
maximum oxygen consumption. The "V" represents volume,
the O2 represents oxygen, and "Max" represents the
maximum. VO2 Max is measured in Liters per Minute or
Mililiters per Minute per Kilogram of body weight. VO2
Max -- the measurement of the maximum rate an individual
can consume oxygen -- is an important indicator of the
peak power output of an individual. Also an indicator of
maximal aerobic physical work capacity, VO2 Max is
thought to be one of the best determinants of physical
fitness. It's called by some the definition of physical
fitness.
